Adelaide Fringe's first announced act is taking over!

The Lounge Room Confabulators will accept invitations to invade Adelaide lounge rooms to present Unverified Stories from a Traveling Suitcase.
Adelaide Fringe artists are known for taking over every nook of this fine city when the southern hemisphere’s largest arts festival rolls into bars, pubs, laneways, circus tents, rooftops, shops and shipping containers.
The first show announced for 2011 is taking the take over one step further. The Lounge Room Confabulators will soon accept invitations to invade lounge rooms across the city to present Unverified Stories from a Traveling Suitcase.
Upon invitation, ragtag ramblers Wil Greenway and Stuart Bowden will amble to your residence with a suitcase filled with stories. They will knock on your door or perhaps ring a bell, wipe their feet, make their way into your lounge room, place down a tattered suitcase and unfold an unfounded fable for you and your guests.
Their invention will tenderly take your lounge room, gently disrobe its domesticity and reveal its vividly intimate stage. It’s a story told by the fire, in your home (they won’t light an actual fire) by two of the most strangely sociable strangers. The Lounge Room Confabulators have been announced as the Adelaide Fringe Award winners at the 2010 Melbourne Fringe.
Since 2006 Adelaide Fringe has funded awards that help Melbourne Fringe artists bring their work to Adelaide. The Lounge Room Confabulators will receive $2000 to offset the cost of touring the show and free Adelaide Fringe registration.
Adelaide Fringe Director and Chief Executive Greg Clarke says the Adelaide Fringe Award supports artists so that they can focus on what they do best – entertaining and inspiring audiences.
“Adelaide Fringe offers artists the best opportunity in Australia to showcase their work to a wide variety of industry professionals and talent scouts. Last year’s Adelaide Fringe Award winners en route, who created a pedestrian-based live art event, enjoyed a sell-out season in Adelaide and went on to repeat the feat at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
