The winning design for the Adelaide Fringe 2012 poster has been launched in spectacular fashion, tethered to four weather balloons filled with high purity helium and floated above Victoria Square, Adelaide.

“The theme for 2012 is Tour of the Unexpected, which was perfectly addressed in the entry by local Adelaide artist
Sue Ninham. Her poster presents a collective of painted watercolour monsters which are bright, energetic and original.”
Each of the monsters is adorned with “vehicular qualities” including wheels, tracks and aerials. “The overall impact of the poster suggests adventure and excitement which is perfectly in keeping with plans for Adelaide Fringe 2012” added Mr Clarke.
New initiatives for 2012 announced to coincide with the poster celebration include:
- Tickets go on sale 1 monthearlier - The 2012 program will be available online on 10 December 2011 via Adelaide Now and Adelaide Fringe websites, with the official printed guide in the Advertiser on 7 January 2012.
- A change of location for the Opening Night Parade - The Fringe Parade will travel down King William Street on Friday 24 February at 8pm.
- The Tour of the Unexpected Buses - Free Fringe buses with on-board Fringe tour guides will entertain passengers whilst pointing out and promoting all of the Fringe venues throughout the CBD.
